Caffe Delucchi, a long-standing Italian restaurant in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood, is under new ownership for the first time since opening at Stockton Street and Columbus Avenue nearly two decades ago.
“I think Healthy San Francisco and the rising minimum wage have done a number on restaurants of this size,” said outgoing owner Richard Jones, referencing the city’s health access program and the current $15 minimum wage. “Then to be honest, it’s difficult to get someone to come in to the restaurant and pay $26, $28 for pasta. It’s a tough dynamic.”
