Following a 2016 move to close 191 recycling centers, California’s largest recycling business, RePlanet, has closed the doors on its remaining 284 sites — leaving nearly 1,000 California residents out of work.
A company spokesman stated, “…the rise in operating costs resulting from minimum wage increases and required health and workers compensation insurance, the Company has concluded that operation of these recycling centers and supporting operations is no longer sustainable.”
